If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you will know how rewarding I found volunteering overseas. It turns out that I am not alone. Volunteering, whilst being a great altruistic act or maybe because of that, is a great way to become a happier person. So no excuses not to volunteer now!
I absolutely loved this post from Pumps and Iron discussing her motivation to exercise. Promoting achievements and ability in sport, rather than just working out to look better, is a powerful message. I’m sure everyone wants to look a little better naked but, to make exercise a regular part of your life, I think you really need to be connecting with the power of your body. Ultimately, though, it doesn’t matter how good you are at it, as long as you’re enjoying it!
I’ve been a huge fan of Bangs and a Bun since I started blogging last year and her latest post is no different. This really resonates with me as someone who is spending a fair bit of time on her own at the moment; I’ve always enjoyed it and I think being comfortable on your own, at any age, is an important part of building healthy relationships with other people.
Something a little bit more light-hearted…this brilliant video is a great take on what meditation is really like (warning – contains strong language)!
Elsewhere this week, I have been enjoying the fantastic cake-to-sandwich ratio of the afternoon tea at Drink, Shop, Do…
…tennis AND cricket on the radio, and finally reading To Kill A Mockingbird (about time too!).
